1. Greeting and note of the delegate-numbers
Wolfgang Ketzler greets the presents and thanks Dr. Giovanni
Morsiani for the hospitality and that the meetings can take place in
this rooms, that were established in honor of Dr. Antonio Morsiani.
He reminds that the WUSB exists now since 33 years. The original
goals: standardization of the type and of the standard are also
current discussion-topics still today. New goals have come to it:
health and character. These were accepted two years ago into the
statutes of the WUSB. Wolfgang Ketzler asks urgently that all
countries should be striving to put these goals into action.
He greets the guests from South Africa and Ireland to the
present-day meeting.
2. Greeting-word of the Italian president Dr. Giovanni Morsiani
Dr. Morsiani greets all delegates and guests and gives his joy
expression that so many have found the way to Italy. He explains
that the conference-venue is a foundation, that four years ago was
founded to the commemoration of Dr. Antonio Morsiani gegründet
wurde. This foundation has the goal to keep the memory of the old
Barry-dogs. Besides it, it should be used for it to study the breed.
Over 50 years of study are to be seen in these matters. Dr. Morsiani
tells that he was 13 years old, when the WUSB was founded and that
it is a big success, that 22 countries today are member of the WUSB.
He wishes to see all countries of the world as a member in the WUSB.
3. Minutes of Porto
To item 11 Bram Vervoorn reminds, that it should be reported
today of the work of the forum. A short discussion starts with the
result that because of the long agenda today the report will be
postboned to the next year in Germany.
In this context Dr. Morsiani talks about the goals of the
forum. He emphasizes again that all countries are loaded to the
sessions as guests in friendship.
In the English version of the delegates-minutes of Porto, it
must be written right at the vote under item 8 : "Unanimously". It
is a spelling mistake.
Otherwise, the minutes were accepted by the delegates.
Unanimously
4. Report of the President and review on the last year
Wolfgang Ketzler gives the meeting a short overview over the
activities of the WUSB in the last year. There were much
correspondence, e-mails and fax-mail as always.
He reports that France has got in contact to the WUSB again.
The President has been invited.
He introduces to the meeting the new presidents in various
clubs: Germany 1 - Peter Brieskorn, Finland - Terno Tassi,
Netherlands - M. van de Veen, Norway - Anne Homble. One should
report to problems in the clubs from Hungaries and Portugal later.
Wolfgang Ketzler thanks the honorary-president Peter Schmidlin
for his commitment and the support. Then he still talks about the
alteration of the decision from Porto, in which it was called, that
the WUSB-Show and -meetings should take place on two
consecutively-following days. This sequence was altered in this
year. That should be possible in future no longer.
He thanks Jan van de Belt for his work as editor of the "
Barry ". This thanks goes to Kari Augestad as well, without her
would not exist the Barry in this form. Furthermore he notices that
the judge-discussion in Porto was prepared and enforced contrary to
the publication in the Barry by the WUSB-secretary Erika
Janes-Kalscheuer.
To the activities in the Internet, Wolfgang Ketzler notices
that the Chats can be very beautiful however also be dangerous,
because one can spread also wrong matters world-wide in a short
time. In this connection, he makes clear that the illustrations of
the judge-discussion in Denmark in 1998 are not the official
standard-commentary of the WUSB. Until today there is nothing
officially.
A discussion takes place over the standard of the FCI and the
American standard.
Wolfgang Ketzler clarifies on the suggestion of Bob Bostrom
once again that only judges can be chosen for the WUSB if they have
taken part in the last three years in the judges-meeting at least
once. The judges for 2001 are chosen today. Whoever is there today
can therefore also be chosen.
He asks the clubs once again to publish the minutes of the
WUSB in its club-magazines so that all members get informations.
In this connection Wolfgang Ketzler gives an explanation for
the minutes to remarks in America:
"The FCI-Standard is no " bastard " of the old Swiss standard
but a development, who is considered in the FCI for necessary." He
admonishes that such remarks are little helpful.
Then, Wolfgang Ketzler still reports on some letters: In Ghana
there are two St. Bernards. From Australia (eldest club), another
proposition came on membership. His opinion is that we like to see
Australia here, but that it would be a better solution to form there
an umbrella organization as WUSB-Mitglied.
From America, an invitation came to the club-show in October
2000.
An issue went through the whole world: export from St.
Bernards to Asia for the purpose of eating. Wolfgang Ketzler
emphasizes that he would not like to question the culture of the
countries, but that the biggest problems is the method of the kill.
Stan Zielinski notices that is meant China and Korea in Asia mainly,
Japan can be excluded largely.
The message of the WUSB to the world is: " The World-Union of St.
Bernhard-Clubs condemn the slaughter of dogs for meal ".
Edgar Kientsch makes the suggestion to publish the " Barry
International " in the Internet.
At the end, Wolfgang Ketzler asks the future organizers of the
WUSB to invite also the substitute-judges, because through sudden
circumstances, illness or the like, a judge can be prevented.
5. Reports of the secretaries
no one
6. Report the treasurer
The current memberships of the clubs were handed over. The
clubs in Hungary must be organized again. In Portugal, at the moment
officially exists only one club.
Roland Hans hands over the cash report. The cash report is
accepted.
Unanimously
7. Report the editor " Barry International "
Jan van de Belt tells that is still tried to publish the
"Barry International" twice in the year. He points out it again that
the magazine is sent by the editor only to the clubs and not to
individual members. Furthermore, he asks to send in ads and pictures
again. Without the participation of the clubs, breeders etc. the "
Barry " cannot exist permanently in the future. He admonishes the
slow payers finally to transfer the money.
Wolfgang Ketzler affiliates the admonition and also appeals to
send editorial contributions from all countries. A more repeatedly
thanks goes to Kari Augestad.
8. Report of the cash auditor and trust company

the WUSB-Schau. He reports that for both shows, forum and WUSB,
altogether 322 dogs had been entered, from it for the WUSB 178. The
dogs come from England (for the first time), Portugal, Spain,
France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia,
Hungaries, Denmark, Finland, Australia, Italy and Norway. The
programs were translated in five languages.
He speaks about the problems of the 2. Judge in the ring and
would like, that this topic will be dealed in the WUSB once again.
The Dutch judge Freddy DE Meyer has sickened suddenly and has
canceled by phone two days ago. Another problem is Karoly Kozma from
Hungaries. That Ungarische Kennel-Club has told that he is still no

One should talk about these problems at a later time again.

suggestions of the WUSB over the Swiss club to the FCI. This is
alone deciding in the end. With the last draft of the SKG and FCI,
the Swiss club was not in agreement. At the moment is valid the
standard like until now.
14. Situation of X-raying in the different countries
Lause Nielsen reports that they have begun from 01/01/2000 in
Denmark with x-raying of hips and elbows.
Dr. Morsiani tells that the members in the Italian club do
x-ray HD and ED. There are still problems with the ENCI. He asks
the. President to write an official letter to the ENCI and to ask
them to issue not any more papers without x-raying.
Julian Hernandez says that they started in Spain with the
x-raying, but that the problem still lies there also with the
Kennel-Club, since it does not go along with it. Also unfortunately

1. Greeting through the WUSB-President Wolfgang Ketzler
The WUSB-President, Mr. Wolfgang Ketzler, opens the meeting
and greets the present judges and guests.
2. Greeting-word of the Italian president Dr. Giovanni Morsiani
Dr. Morsiani greets all present judges and guests here in
Bagnara di Romagna very heartily. He is happy that so many are
arrived and that he has the honor to be able to have the discussions
in these rooms. He wishes all a beautiful stay and many interesting
meetings.
Wolfgang Ketzler thanks and reminds in this context at Dr.
Antonio Morsiani. It will never be forget that he was co-founder of
the WUSB beside Albert de la Rie and other breeders. Since 1967, the
WUSB has made a big progress. Actually there are 22 clubs from
around the world member in the WUSB. The goals were widened and
partially changed. Today, health and character should receive
special attention. He appeals to the judges to take these goals
beside the beauty into especial account.
No WUSB-Congress takes place in this year. The forum had made
a congress, to which the WUSB was invited. The treated topics are
very important also for the WUSB and a benefit for all. Initial
irritations with the foundation of the forum are cleared up, because
it has appeared, that the work of the four countries has achieved
good successes. The forum is not component of the WUSB, but we can
profit from the results.
3. Minutes of the last judges-meeting in Porto
No one raises an objection against the minutes of the last
judges-meeting in Porto/Portugal .
4. Informations from the member countries
Bram Vervoorn complains that is also translated today besides
German and English into Italian. Dr. Morsiani explains that the
translatora are Italians and that they cannot translate directly
from German into English or opposite. Julian Hernandez says that it
has also advantages for the countries Spain and Portugal.
Wolfgang Ketzler very definitely explains that the translating
is a service, that we should assume with a thank.
Joan Zielienski says that it is a very beautiful correct
matter.
3. Current stand the standard-discussion
Wolfgang Ketzler reminds of it that we have written down the
points in Porto and they were relayed to the Swiss club to the
discussion. He asks Rolands Hans to report on the current stand.
Roland Hans tells that the Swiss club has put a proposition to
the FCI. It shall exist remain like until now for example the size
of the St. Bernard and some small alterations in the head.
Furthermore, there were incongruities because of the color.
Switzerland would like that the seven white markings necessarily get
remains. The FCI wanted cut the patch on neck, tip of tail and white
chest as mistakes. The objection from Switzerland probably becomes
accepted.
Dr. King comments that one cannot separate show and official
selection for stud use and that the Swiss club hopes that the FCI
accepts the objection.
Furthermore, there have been differences in the height through
wrong measurement. It was not measured at the withers but at the
shoulder.
At the moment the standard is valid like until now without
alterations.
Reinhold Welsch explains that exclusively at the withers and
not at the shoulder must be measured since normally also the
proportions are correct no longer.
With the projector, the points were demonstrated on the sreen
then.
Per Bay means, we should finish the discussion for the moment
until the new standard is available.
In this context, Wolfgang Ketzler asks all to make no
depreciatory remarks about the FCI-Standard or even to call it a "bastard
". He emphasizes that we are open for all discussions.
6. American " Illustrated Commentary to the Standard "
Wolfgang Ketzler had asked Bob Bostrom to bring some copies so
that we can see how the Americans do interpret their standard. He
emphasizes however again that we don't recognize the American
standard. The brochure to the American Standard is done very good.
The WUSB-members have the possibility to have sent this brochure to
itself.
7. Lecture by Per Bay, Peter Brieskorn and Dr. Giovanni Morsiani
A very interesting lecture followed over the static aspects
with the St. Bernard. The details were explained very interestingly
at various pictures.
Wolfgang Ketzler thanks the speakers for the interesting
lecture, closes the judges-meeting and wishes all present a
beautiful weekend in Bagnara.
